School Profile

Wattle View Primary School was established in 1971 and is located at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Ferntree Gully. Our current student population is approximately 270 students. Wattle View Primary School’s vision is to educate ‘Learners for Life’. Supporting this vision are five core values: Getting Along, Confidence, Organisation, Persistence and Resilience. We provide a learning environment that challenges and supports all students to achieve their individual learning goals through rigorous teaching and learning practices, encourages students to learn in an atmosphere of mutual respect, cooperation, and participation, supports students in making informed decisions that prepare them for life in a global community, encourages friendship, connections with others and celebrates all successes, values socially competent students who are aware of their responsibility to themselves and towards the wider community.

Our Curriculum at Wattle View Primary School reflects the Victorian Curriculum Framework and is focused on the core learning areas of English and Maths. Other learning areas are taught within an inquiry framework, or within our specialist programs that include, Physical Education, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and our language other than English, AUSLAN. Our focus on wellbeing is crucial to academic achievement and our school wide consistent wellbeing programs, such as the Zones of Regulation, support and accelerate students’ learning.

Wattle View has a strong student leadership program that provides opportunities for all students, in every year level, to lead and contribute to school wide programs and initiatives. This includes a Student Voice Council. We work with our families and wider school community to ensure our community is actively involved in school programs. We have a passionate Parents and Friends Association, and an actively involved School Council team.

School maintenance and improvements are always at the forefront, ensuring we are keeping abreast of our learners and their changing needs. Our grounds provide abundant space for active and passive recreation in a picturesque setting. Facilities include a library, gymnasium, dedicated teaching areas for our specialist subjects, kitchen garden, oval and covered outdoor learning areas.
